feeling. I was compelled to buy the CD and I wasn't disappointed, it's
fantastic. Just wish we could see more of you down south.

Edwards. It was a great pleasure to hear her sing live and to chat with her on
the show. Her voice has great soul and coupled with her powerful lyrics it's
such a rich combination. In short I am a fan. Thanks Claire'
Thank you Andrew for having me on the show. Really enjoyed it. CM

'Hi Claire...I wanted to let you know the comments from the conference
evaluation forms...I only just got them back. ...in the section what aspect of
the conference people found most valuable "Loved the singer - really
impressive:" "The song was fantastic - ending on a high:"
"Thought the musical element worked well:" "I thought this was
one of the highlights. It's the kind of atmosphere that I think we want to
create at a network event". Feel free to use the feedback.' Cheers Eleanor
Eleanor, really appreciate you sharing the delegate feedback. Hopefully,
we can use the same 'song creation' technique at future networking events!
CM

'Hi Claire - I just wanted to say thanks for the workshops. The kids really

Happy to put you on the mailing list. CM

'This is weird - but nice weird. I am sitting at my computer with the
new CD playing and the quality is so good Claire could be sitting in the
room! The new CD should be a big seller, just stop being so modest and
push it at your gigs! Tell them Cher rates it!' Karen

'Thanks for my CD (the one I've been hankering after for ages) it was well

brilliant!' Eleanor, SPH Network Conference

'You were brill... loved the way you mixed comedy with music and audience
participation - very memorable.' Tony Hennigan, M19

'I just saw you on Channel M and thought you played really well. We'd
just turned over from Glastonbury, having watched a very lacklustre Lilly Allen
and not wanting to see Amy Winehouse repeated for the third time - and there you
were. Definitely the best performance of the three!' David

'Hi Claire. We don't get out much, and would have preferred to have
been out clubbing but were dragged along by the hair - no, sorry, Natalie - to
the launch of your new CD 'Good As You'. We had a great evening and it was
lovely to meet you and wish you continued success. Hope to see you
soon' Sharon & Alan
Lovely to meet you too, thanks for coming - hope you get out clubbing
soon!!! CM

'Shw mae, Claire...I didn't know anything about you (to be fair you probably
never heard of me either) but I'm glad I turned up. I really enjoyed your
(intimate) set, especially the song you wrote for your mam. What's it called? Is
it on CD or download? If you send me an email I'll send you an mp3 of one of
mine called 'I Still Feel Your Love'. Once again, thank you. Dioch yn fawr'. Rob
Great to meet you in Tom's in friendly Ponty! The song you refer to is
called 'Not a Day' on the album 'Ordinary Rebel'. It's not available on download
but is available from this website. I have to say I quite like this system of bartering
songs...is this the new myspace you're setting up?!!

'Hi Claire, You were brilliant'. Attila the Stockbroker (Glastonwick Festival
organiser)
You were fabulous too. Really great to see you again after so long. The
festival was excellent. Must get a gig together this side of the world. CM

'We would like to thank you for coming to our Festival - the amount of people
that were coming to see you mainly was amazing... I hope we meet again
soon.' Claire Boyle, Black Sheep Music Festival

'Claire's gig was a real cracker. We were specially happy to welcome Claire
because of the Trades Club's political background... In addition to being a
music venue of international repute, it retains its adherence to the principles
of it's creators - socialism, co-operation, political activity, raising funds
for causes as diverse as the anti-war movement, anti-racism campaign,
environmental groups and human rights organisations. With a background like
that, Claire was sure to be welcome. Her reputation as a supporter of the above
and an outspoken campaigner on a wide range of issues - not to mention her
superb and powerful voice - preceded her. I learned of her from a comrade
who'd been at a trades union conference where she had performed - in fact two
people from the conference turned up at the Trades Club to see her again.
They went home very happy. We'll be inviting Claire back, and it's a gig
we'll be looking forward to. A great night. Thanks Claire.'
Pete Lazenby, President - Trades Club, Hebden Bridge

'Wow - what a pro! Really enjoyed your gig at Fearby on Saturday - sorry now
that we didn't get up to join the band! Hopefully next time! Excellent
performance - thanks!' Steve 'n Pip

'Listening to 'Letting Go' and I'm really touched ... "you're on a
journey ... to a place that I can't reach ... trying to catch up but I'm too
slow..." It's one of the great challenges in our work - how to
maintain communication through this sad and frightening journey. Thanks
Claire ... would I have your permission to play this song at one of our events
in the future? With great appreciation.' Neil Hunt, Chief Exec,
Alzheimer's Society
Hi Neil - of course you have permission to play the song at any of your
events. I'm pleased you feel that 'Letting Go' has a relevance to
your work. All good things, Claire

'Thanks Claire - it was a great show - we really enjoyed it...where can I buy
a CD?' R. Moran
Thanks for getting in touch and for coming to the Sound Women
event. The new album 'Good as You' is available from June 2007. For those
of you who are fabulous and support my gigs you can buy them at each event for
£5.00 each (cheaper than a download!!!) otherwise it will soon be available
online from the Discography page on this website. CM

'Hi Claire, Many thanks for your hard work on the 100 Days project. As
always, you come up with a great product and I know that the pupils at Richmond
Park have really enjoyed the opportunities and experiences you gave them. The
100 Days Campaign just wouldn't be the same without a Claire Mooney and ASB
Policy Team song. Once again...thank you!' N. Smith, ASB Policy Team

'You are/were terrific and a must-have for any solidarity event as you have
the perfect mix of warmth, humanity and political perspective alongside a
wonderful voice, great songs and lovely music' Hilda Palmer - 2007 Workers Memorial Day

'Thank you for yet another of your fantastic performances' Lisa, LCP
(Florence & Michael Anti-Deportation Campaign event)

'Well hello again Claire, now I'm 'accosting' you in yourspace. The point I
was trying to get across is that if you want to get a message across to people
who are not politicised or of similar viewpoints then it's necessary to enter a
discomfort zone. I have only a few 'friends' on myspace but, as I explained
before, I take the opportunity to enter other people's blogs and join in the
discussions. On Myspace, the blogs are running commentaries of participation,
just as the Guardian's are. I enjoy the Guardian blogs too, more like minded
people there and generally, the worst that can occur is from friendly fire. On
Myspace blogs, the world in its infinite variety is there. Its definitely no
comfort zone but full of opportunities to put my views across in places I would
not have the guts to enter if they were 'real'. Some Myspaces I have encountered
have been quite frightening. For example, a woman who has a radio show in the
USA and a massive Myspace following and who writes daily blogs. Literally
hundreds participate and comment on important issues, recently there's been gay
issues, the War in Iraq. Its challenging, to say the least, to venture into what
you could almost describe as enemy territory. But I know, because of the
feedback I've had, that things I've written about have impacted some people in a
positive way. This week, I wrote a piece in a blog on the Arundhati Roy myspace.
The blog and comments suggested that she has become exasperated since the dam
was built and has suggested that peaceful activism isn't working and there was
an implication that agression is justifiable. Issues I struggle with myself. A
young American had written about his frustration on this blog and about his
wanting to be active but not knowing how to begin and feeling daunted by
difficulty and lack of response. I wrote a piece in response looking at the
issues around empowerment and described a real situation that I had encountered
this week, as a union rep. I detailed how this had impacted people and allowed a
group of people who were unpoliticised and feeling disempowered, to speak up for
themselves and take an active role in their workplace. I tried to convey how
there are many ways of being active and that it is hard to motivate people to
join in something big if they have never experienced their own power in a
smaller or more localised way. I encouraged him to take heart and view smaller
things as part of a greater picture. Since then, he has corresponded with me and
we have a good dialogue about this stuff. Any kind of blog is an opportunity to
put across a political point and I am skilled at pitching things in ways that
can fit into a territory but also stretch the subject to include a political
point. I understand your views about Myspace and if I were wanting to promote
myself as an artiste, I would not want to sell out. Therefore I accept and
support the stance you have made about your own promotion as a musician, to have
your own website. However, I do not believe I have sold out (your implication)
by participating in myspace. If you had the opportunity to have a regular slot
in The Sun newspaper in which you were free to say what you wanted - unedited,
would you shy away because of the ownership? Regards, Naomi'
As you can see, this is less pithy than the usual feedback but I did ask
for the argument, didn't I?! Thanks for visiting the website, Naomi - keep
on in there! But I still believe that I have to boycott myspace -
Rupert Murdoch bought it to get into online media and make profits out of
advertising. While we support it - no matter what your politics - he makes a
profit. If we all boycotted it, on the other hand, he would make a
whacking loss and we could search for more ethical alternatives. My one-woman
boycott goes on!!!!! CM

Hey - it's true! You do have a website. I thought I heard a brief ref to it at
the Met last night. Running for the train - is that the one you sang last night?
It really struck a chord with me but now I'm retired so I don't have to do that
anymore. It was a great night, I hadn't heard you before but I will again.
Thanks. Viv (the magnificent swanee whistle player from the Hurdles Band)
I
think the song you're talking about is from the 'Eight Ages of Women' limited
edition CD - a track called Not Enough Time. Thanks for your comments, and your
solo! Love, CM

Saw you at Bury Met last night after a gap of at least seven years (since I
moved to Rossendale & stopped getting City Life) - but I have never seen you
advertised in the Met programme before - feel I have really missed out.
Incredible to see you again. Are any of your CDs just you without your band?
Linda
Thanks for coming back to see me after such a long time. The band come
together for occasional gigs and, although the albums do feature other
instruments, some tracks are guitar and vocals only. I do a lot of solo gigs -
if you want to get on the mailing list to keep up to date, drop me a line at

I saw Claire for the first time at Bury Met earlier this year, and thought she
was wonderful. I am going again to the Met in October to see her, and am
introducing a friend to her (figuratively speaking!). Her music is superb. B.H.

We've just looked at your web site and spent half an hour worrying over what to
write as you have been so important to us in developing the Unity Festival and
Unity Youth Arts & Sounds groups. Your amazing talent, as a performer, song
writer, facilitator with often challenging young people and your ability to
organise, compere ... is really appreciated.Your work is an inspiration to us
all. Thank you.

Having just completed a public artwork in Prestwich, which has taken two and a
half years to complete, I am now in a period of taking stock, and reflecting on
the whole process. A major part of the commission involved working with Claire,
and that experience, as well as the product, was one of the major highlights of
the whole journey. I am always a bit nervous about working with Youth groups.
Claire embraced it with complete confidence and enthusiasm, and was always a
complete hit. This was reflected in the magical results, where everyone was left
with a tremendous sense of achievement. The words and songs that Claire
developed with school children, youth and adult groups were not only
incorporated into granite stone seating to animate a public space, but also
provided a soundscape for a piece of physical theatre, that provided a fabulous
and fitting crescendo to the opening ceremony. Claire always gives 200%.
Whatever she charges, it is always a bargain. I would work with her any place,
anywhere, anyday. Thank you Claire for being such a major contributor in what
was for me a tremendous life experience. Isabella Lockett - Artist/Project Co-Ordinator

I have seen claire many times, she plays a great mixture of music and she has
given a lot of her own time for charity. Keep the good work up Molly Dunn

Hi Claire thanks for sending the link...like the site and you must officially be
the most dedicated songwriter out of everyone who went to Arvon. It makes me
realise what a beginner I was on that course, although I can safely say it was
one of the best weeks of my life. I'm still writing and recording stuff very
badly at home in my spare time, of which I have none. I still dream though. If
you ever gig this side of the Pennines (Leeds etc) let me know and I'll try ands
pop along. Cheers and good luck for the new year. Paul (the chunky lad with the
black beard) Harker

Welcome to the web, Claire!
To all u surfers, bookmark this site now! And then do yourselves a favour and
get Claire's music. It's an oasis amidst the cultural desert that is the
soulless Pop Idol-esque music bizz. You can keep yer heroin-chic starlets with
their vacuous lyrics - I'll take the buxom lefty with attitude any day!
Rock on Claire
Love, peace.
Graham
